Description
Over 1,741 acres comprise this land holding in Accomack County, Virginia. Farmland, timberland, and estuarine tidal marsh stretch from Nandua Creek to the South, Butcher Creek to the West and Pungoteague Creek to the North. The tract consists of 4 tax parcels and are all contiguous. Several in holdings along road frontages exist but the property boundaries of the land is largely created by natural barriers such as tidal waters, marshland, and wooded ditch lines. The 160 acres of agricultural land is interior to the farm and is in active crop rotation with a local farmer. The farmland is characterized by Nimmo, sandy loam soil. Successful soil investigations have been completed in multiple locations on the farm to study potential for wetland and shallow water habitat for waterfowl. Most of the soil type in the timberland is also comprised of this sandy loam soil type. While these sandy loam soils can be well drained their topography makes them susceptible to high water tables and excess water. Munden Sand Loam makes up a portion of the agricultural land also and is considered a class 2 soil well suited for cultivated crops. Timber Inventory available upon request.
